“We believe that youth who experience traumatic life events, whether internal or external, can
still become the next generation of leaders with the right opportunities, access, and support.”

Mission

AROSE's mission is to bridge the opportunity gap for Black and Brown youth in trauma-prone communities through post-secondary scholarships, support services, and community outreach initiatives.

We are dedicated to changing the narrative of how our young people in these communities are seen and what they can become. AROSE is committed to showing that traumatic events do not define their future but enable them to become successful generational leaders.

Problem

A devastating opportunity gap exists for students growing up in low-income, trauma-prone communities. Research shows that Black and Brown students from low-income communities with adverse childhood experiences (ACE) struggle to leave their trauma-prone neighborhoods due to lacking resources and support.

These students are less likely to receive a degree due to financial stress and lack of resources. Those able to advance are dropping out of post-secondary programs at alarming rates as a result.

Solution

AROSE’s bridge is scaled upwards to empower our students to arise to a place of achievement:

  • AROSE Scholars Program

  • Youth Leadership Development

  • Community Outreach
